Results Peer review ERPB Transplant Guideline
Our peer review of the new transplant guideline: "ERBP guideline on donor and recipient evaluation and peri-operative care" has been a great success.
648 members of ERA-EDTA, of which 27 also belong to the Descartes group, have sent a reply and completed the SurveyMonkey questionnaire.
Over the last two years, a working group of European Renal Best Practice (ERBP) has established a guideline concerning the evaluation and preparation of donor and recipient of a kidney transplant, in the pre-transplantation and peri-operative period.
We have now finalized this interesting process, which, as you can imagine, was hard work for all members of the group.
On the occasion of the launch of the guideline "Management of Hyponatraemia", the ERA-EDTA, European Renal Best Practice, European Society of Endocrinology and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine co-organise a CME session entitled: "Hyponatraemia: an Evidence Based Approach"
The prevalence of major depression in stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) is high. Patients with CKD who are depressed have a worse quality of life, are hospitalized more often and die sooner than those who are not depressed. Antidepressant drugs are effective in the general population, but whether they improve outcomes in CKD is uncertain.
Crush syndrome is a preventable cause of death after earthquakes. These documents summarize the appropriate therapeutic approach for this not uncommon complication of a fortunately not so frequent event. The recommendations are based on expert judgment and retrospective analyses as no prospective trials have been conducted on treatment of crush victims.
Beginning of 2012, KDIGO presented their guidance on management of AKI, in a very extensive document. Starting from this, ERBP formed two work groups to summarize and update this guideline in a position statement.
During the last two years, a team of experts has worked on this guideline, in 4 groups under the supervision of D. Abramowicz.
