European Renal Best Practice
Information for patients

ERBP provides you with evidence based guidance on treatment options for renal problems, which provides you the "overall most optimal option" in certain conditions. In view of good medical practice, we believe that the most optimal treatment for the individual patient can only be  obtained by a joined decision between the physician and the patient. This can only be done if the patient is well informed.
Therefore, ERBP decided to establish "patient information" documents, starting from the available ERBP guidance documents.

1. ERBP Information for patients: General information
2. ERBP Information for patients: How do I know if a recommendation is really well-established?
3. ERBP Information for patients: What should my Hemoglobin be?
4. ERBP Information for patients: What does Hepatitis C mean to me as a CKD patient?
5. ERBP Information for patients: Are High Flux dialysers better for me than Low Flux ones?
6. ERBP Information for patients: Are venous catheters safe in terms of Blood Stream Infection?
7. ERBP Information for patients: Why is it important to regularly test the function of my Peritoneal membrane if I am on PD?
8. ERBP Information for patients: What sort of dialysis should I choose?

DIALYSIS DECISION AID BOOKLET - Kidney Research UK - Supporting Patients to Make Informed Dialysis Decisions

This is a decision aid booklet for renal services to give to patients making treatment choices as part of their predialysis education pack.
Its structure and content help patients make dialysis decisions that fit in with their lifestyle.

ERBP endorses this project and supports its use in clinical practice. ERBP believes the tool is based on evidence based concepts of (medical) decision making and helps in three important aspects of this process:

1/ Increasing understanding (by providing information in an as unbiased way as possible);
2/ help patients in clarifying the decisions to be made and deliberate the pros and cons of all options;
3/helping in the final decision making.
